At LightBridge Hospice we strive to help volunteers bring their special talents and "gifts" to our patients and their families.

Patient Care Volunteers
Volunteers in this area are assigned to provide support and companionship to patients and families after completing the volunteer training course. Assignments are available throughout San Diego County. These volunteers may do any number of activities, including reading, writing letters, running errands, shopping or just "hanging out." They are often a source of relief for family or caregivers.
Volunteers for Ohr Ami, The Jewish Hospice Program
Ohr Ami offers members of the Jewish community the opportunity to fulfill the mitzvah of bikkur ḥolim (visiting the sick). For further information, contact the Director of Volunteer Services at (858) 458-3602. Ohr Ami welcomes the opportunity to coordinate with congregational groups in providing support to patients and families who are affiliated with a particular synagogue.

Specialized Project Volunteers
Healing Touch is a program where trained volunteers use non-invasive techniques to clear, energize and balance the human and environmental energy fields.
Arts and Crafts involves providing arts and crafts activities from simple to the complex in a variety of media, including photography, with patients and their families.
Soothing Music is a powerful program. Whether you can play the flute, guitar or iPod, we have many opportunities to share musical activities with patients and their families. We are also recruiting volunteer musicians from all cultural backgrounds to use their talents to provide music to patients and their loved ones.
Veterans' Programs provide unique opportunities for grateful citizen volunteers to join us in providing a variety of activities for our servicemen and women. Activities may include creating video recordings, chronicling military and life memories, and being a part of other celebrations of service and sacrifice.
11th Hour is a profoundly meaningful opportunity for experienced volunteers to provide bedside companionship, comfort and care with patients in their final hours.
Bereavement Volunteers
These volunteers, under the direction of the Bereavement Coordinator, make scheduled phone calls to bereaved family and friends. They may also make bereavement visits in the home and assist the Bereavement Coordinator with Memorial Services, Bereavement Groups and other activities.
Administrative Volunteers
Administrative volunteers help out in our office. The duties for this volunteer position may include filing, typing, copying, faxing, computer work and collating family and physician packets, as well as assisting with other office duties.
